Energy and Waste

This section is under development.

Every item we throw in the trash has a carcinogenic pollution footprint, including greenhouse gases and hazardous chemicals. From bitumen to plastic bottle, single-use products are not sustainable. Waste is not a “renewable energy resource.”

We could do so much better. For example, why are detergents, shampoos and cleaners sold in diluted formats, requiring large bottles, warmed trucks and energy for transportation and excessive shelf space? Solid forms of all products, wrapped in paper, work at least as well.

Durability and Right to Repair, seen through the waste lens, touch cancer prevention!

There are many solutions, so check back for more discussion. PCN works with Waste Watch Ottawa and experts, and has offered input to consultations.
