Opportunities: Join the Prevent Cancer Now team
Here’s your chance to help to stop cancer before it starts!
Prevent Cancer Now does what no other cancer groups do—we are concerned citizens including volunteer scientists, health and environmental professionals and activists working tirelessly to “stop cancer before it starts” by addressing the root causes of cancer and “making least-toxic the norm.” This is called “Primary Cancer Prevention.”
PCN welcomes collaborators and fund-raisers
Primary Cancer Prevention is a BIG job.
Prevent Cancer Now’s work to date has been largely volunteer. We need to grow, to engage more broadly at all levels—from personal choices, to communities, provinces and nationally. This requires expertise, fundraising and organization.
Topic-specific energy and expertise are welcomed!
Supporting health and avoiding carcinogens covers many topics.
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Do you want to take a bite?
What is your passion? You can help, in your neighbourhood, school, community, province or across Canada. Here are some ideas:
- Healthiest options
- food and agriculture
- water, air, and environments (including preventing climate chaos)
- living environments
- daily life and exercise
- fighting addictions (e.g., tobacco, cannabis, alcohol and illicit drugs)
- Fighting pollution
- pesticides and other toxic chemicals, including plastics
- asbestos in drinking water
- waste and incineration
- laws and legal reform
- Social justice
- bringing light to populations at risk—a healthy environment should not be a privilege;
- cancer clusters.

PCN researches and advocates for least-toxic approaches to products and processes within our homes, schools, at work and play, in our urban settings and green spaces, and within industry and agriculture. We work with numerous community and national groups across Canada and internationally, on issues ranging from food quality and production, pesticides, clean air, water and soil, products in daily living and choices of technologies, and the impacts of climate change—all to make least-toxic approaches the norm.
