Action Alert on Coal

The following message was sent to Prevent Cancer Now from colleagues at the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE). We strongly support the work of CAPE, and hope you will too! Please take a moment and act today.
– The PCN Team

Dear Friend,

The Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment is working to close Ontario’s dirty coal-fired electricity plants… and we need a minute of your time to assist us!

Coal plants kill an estimated 250 Canadians and make over 100,000 ill every year.

Coal plants produce the greenhouse gas emissions of almost 7 million cars!

But the good news is the province has more than enough electricity and doesn’t need the coal plants.

Could you please take a minute to e-mail Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty the following message:

Dear Premier,

Each year your coal plants kill hundreds of Canadians and make over 100,000 sick.

You don’t need coal to keep the lights on. I urge you to shut these plants this year — to protect our climate and human health.

Thank you,

[your name]

The Premier’s e-mail is: Dmcguinty.mpp.co@liberal.ola.org

It doesn’t matter if you don’t live in Ontario. Please write the Premier anyway. Smog hurts all of us.

Thank you,

Gideon Forman, Executive Director
Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment
